What to do this holiday weekend in Toronto
July 31, 2014
Staying in town this long weekend? There is no shortage of things to do – the big event is Caribana, but both One Direction and Modest Mouse are performing. Something more indie your speed? The Irie Music Festival runs at Nathan Phillips Square and VELD Music Fest is happening at Downsview Park.
Do you like DJs and fried food? Some enterprising promoter has put together DJ Deep Fried Fridays at Harbourfront Centre. There is also two-day Food Truck Festival in Woodbine Park, with at least three vendors selling cupcakes and at least eight trucks offering BBQ.
Also, the Rogers Cup is at the Rexall Centre, the Leslieville Flea is at Harbourfront Centre, you may witness the Waterfront Ambassador program in which ‘eight lively ambassadors … travel along Toronto’s waterfront, offering assistance, directions and recommendations to visitors, as well as impromptu a capella singing performances.’ You can’t make this stuff up.
