As we learned last year, Ontario is home to some fantastic winter activities. If you didn’t get around to it last year, maybe 2022 is the year you strap on snowshoes, check out some winter festivals, skate at Nathan Phillips Square or spend a night ice fishing. However, if you’ve “been there, done that” and are in search of something new, have no fear: Ontario has winter-focused fun that you likely haven’t tried yet.

Did you make a New Year’s resolution to get in shape or increase your fitness? With gym closures across Ontario, it might be harder due to COVID, but these Toronto gyms are offering virtual classes and workouts to ensure your resolutions don’t go by the wayside.
With the semi-lockdown most indoor activities and events are cancelled, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the gorgeous weather and beauty of the outdoors. These peaceful trails will help you escape reality, relax, recharge and take in some absolutely gorgeous views including the Rouge National Urban Park.
The popular Sky Skate rooftop rink at The Porch is open for the winter season and it’s one of the most picturesque spots in town for gliding under the stars. The rink is located right in the heart of downtown, so you’ll be skating under the glow of twinkling lights, city buildings, and the majestic CN Tower.
Need we say more? There is no bigger thrill of adrenaline than ripping down the hill on a snow tube. Whether you are linking arms with friends and family or playing bumper karts the whole way down, it is always filled with laughter, rosy cheeks and the need for a cup of nice warm hot chocolate after.
From llamas to reindeer, make the most of your time outdoors by spending it with adorable animals as you visit the High Park Zoo. You can see animals as they interact with their natural habitat. Make sure you bundle up and bring the mittens because once you’re done you can enjoy a day at the High Park rink skating when you are done.

Winterlit (December 27th-February 20th)
The wooded trails at Mountsberg are always beautiful in the wintertime but now we have made them more magical than ever! The Winterlit Trail features a unique and stunning lighting experience with inspirational art installations along the trail. Also at Mountsberg, the Illuminated Sugarbush Trail has soft overhead lighting to allow for a beautiful evening stroll through the sugarbush. This experience will include soundtracks from local musicians while you enjoy the beauty of Mountsberg in winter, safely. The Winterlit experience will be offered Wednesday to Sunday evenings.
