Toronto Real Estate: Construction on Church St. Part 2
December 18, 2014
Another condo tower is under consideration for Church Street. This one would be on the north west corner of Church and Charles, which is currently occupied by a number of buildings, including the Manhattan apartments as well as several heritage properties.
Happily, the proposed tower would incorporate the heritage properties at the base and have 20 rental units to replace the ones being lost from the Manhattan (although the building itself is expected to be saved). According to Urban Toronto, the application is for a 52 storey condo tower with retail at grade.
If the project is done well, there shouldn’t be much of a difference at street level. The building is designed by Quadrangle Architects, who have also designed 50 at Wellesley Station,159 Wellesley and 66 Isabella, among many other Toronto projects.
