Toronto July Events: Caribana and Beaches Jazz Festival
July 8, 2014
Whether you call it Caribana or the Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival, the official launch of the three week festival took place at Nathan Phillips Square on July 8th. According to this website, the carnival is three weeks long, including an opening service, junior carnival and festival gala. Of course, the big events start on July 31st, with the crowning of a king and queen, Jab Jab J’Ouvert and ending with the Grand Parade. Most of the events take place in and around exhibition place with at least two events happening near Jane and Wilson.
Meanwhile, across the city, the Beaches Jazz Festival starts on July 18th – although it doesn’t have the headliners that the Toronto Jazz Festival has, there is the Taste of Jazz Gourmet Food Truck Extravaganza Event and there are some free workshops, including cabaret and Ukulele Jam!
