Toronto Heritage: The old Pickford Theatre
February 6, 2015
I am passionate about Toronto’s heritage and fascinated by the history of the city. I recently came across a really interesting blog, Historic Toronto.
The most recent posting talks about one of Toronto’s long gone theatres – the Pickford theatre, which sat at the north west corner of Queen and Spadina. That corner has had a varied history – from theatre to bargain store (Bargain Benny’s, which reportedly closed in 1961), to a deli, to the McDonald’s that currently occupies the space.
Doug Taylor, who has been running the blog since March 2011, has also written a book, Toronto Theatres and the Golden Age of the Silver Screen.
