Canadian homeowners plan $17,000 in renovations in 2015

May is a busy month for home renovations!
According to a CIBC survey, the average Canadian homeowner will spend $17,000 on home renovations this year. Anybody who has lived through a major (or even a minor) renovation knows that they never go as smoothly as you would like them to, even when you’re not knocking down walls. In addition to the hundreds of decisions necessary, one of the biggest challenges is finding the right contractor.
You don’t have to look far to hear a home reno horror story – it may not be as dramatic as having your home tip over, but having a bathroom or kitchen renovation drag on weeks after the completion date will still upend your life. Trust me, I know from personal experience!
