Architect’s big idea: Tiny, $11,000 house
December 24, 2013
I’ve posted about small living spaces before but this is a new one. A US architect has built herself a 196 square foot (not a typo) home that she put on a truck’s flatbed. It includes a king size bed, a washer and dryer, a 100 pound dog – and soon, a baby. She says she’s saving up for her next home, which will be a giant 600 square feet. The reason she’s able to save is that the home cost her $11,000 and her monthly expenses are $250. Most people with a car have spent more.
Could you fit everything you need into 200 square feet? Probably. Would it be pleasant? Not really. If you think about the way you live your life today, you could likely do without some of the creature comforts, but there’s minimalist and then there’s extreme. The photo gallery is interesting, though.
